Community Guidelines
General
We seek to provide a safe and productive space for all members of our community.
Please do…
use inclusive language (for example “y’all” or “everyone” instead of “you guys”)
use people’s preferred pronouns (or use gender neutral pronouns if unsure)
be kind and welcoming
Please don’t…
harass or insult anyone
make comments about someone’s identity
send unwanted messages after being asked not to
spam the community with sales or asks for free labor
imitate someone else or misrepresent who you are
Slack
Profiles and Photos
Please use your real name and add a photo
Fill out your profile (preferred pronouns, where you’re based, what you’re working on). This allows people to find you and to know a bit about you!
Writing Posts
Listen and read before responding
Please only post messages in one channel (no need to repost)
If you respond to a specific question, tend towards starting a thread, especially in busier channels. Many people only read this slack after a conversation happens and without threads it’s hard to catch up.
Avoid using notification bombs like here & channel
Responding to Posts
Be kind and patient with everyone. Assume people have good intent and ask questions to clarify if you’re not sure how to respond.
Reward those who contribute useful things - an emoji goes a long way and it’s just a click.
Reading and Sharing
Private by default: Conversations on this slack should be treated as off the record and confidential. If you wish to quote or share something written here, you must receive permission first from the author. Links to public websites are ok to reshare without permission.
Contacting Admins
You can identify admins with The Right Track logo next to their name
You can also join #ask-the-admins to ask anything or post suggestions
How We Review Invites
We aim to offer an inclusive and welcoming community. As we work to establish The Right Track community, we may review Slack invite requests to ensure:
This community is a good match for your interests
We keep the community high signal and high value for everyone (and avoid spam)
To do this, we look at the answers you provide on the Slack invite request form.
Reporting a Violation
If you’d like to report a violation of our code of conduct from any of our community activities, please use this form.
These community guidelines were adapted from the code of conducts from Techqueria and Growth Designers
